How We Started ..
Four years ago sitting at the dinner table my husband and I both were contemplating getting part time jobs in the evening for extra income. We bounced ideas back and forth and then I said – we are fortunate enough to have this land, let’s use it! Sounds simple enough right?!
I guess we didn’t think everything all the way through – like needing equipment. So the first several years we planted an acre by hand. After my husband and I got home from work each night, we rushed outside to hoe and maintain the field. What we quickly realized we weren’t just taking care of the fields and growing corn, we were growing our relationship -- our love for each other and love for agriculture.
After our first year of selling corn, the next season we added beans. Now we grow a full line of produce on 4+ Acres of land. Here’s to the beginning of a blog where values of farming and family matter. Our goal is to create a network to share our love for agriculture and for one another. We hope to provide you with valuable information and for you to share your thoughts & opinions with us!
Many ask why do you do this? -- Why would you stay up with head lamps picking beans, Why would you spend your evenings and weekends working so hard?
Farming for us is a challenge, an adventure and something instilled in us. The work we put into our farm is very rewarding and something we are very proud of.
Farm life is a life of its own. Date nights now consist of plowing fields, harvesting, and if we are lucky a trip to the field store or a farm training. Crock pot dinners are our best friend - well maybe the weather channel! When we have "down time" its often spent planning plantings, researching, fixing fences, you name it!
Entering our fourth season we couldn't be more excited to share our farming experience with you! The past four years we have not only learned about agriculture but also ourselves. We will keep you updated on 2015 Growing Season, the ins and outs of farm life and all the excitement in between.
